Watching and learning from other cultures to see which Bible lessons are most impactful to their culture are so vital to relational impact. Then, adapting story teaching pieces, application, crafts and games to match that culturally relevant lesson is key to impact to each heart! From ocean waters, fishing villages, sea life, which is all around the Philippine culture. Watching fishermen and women leave each morning to gather fish before the break of day, taught us how impactful God’s stories would be of “fishing, Jesus walking on water with Peter , feeding the 5,000 with two fish and five loaves of bread, to Jonah’s story…. This is our desire to create this curriculum for relational and cultural impact in a concise packet per lesson! Check it out!
What does hunger look like? See the little girl i What does hunger look like? See the little girl in blue with a cute sticker on her forehead, with alot of light colorful hair in Haití? The hair colorization or extended bellies, are stark reminders that behind their beautiful smiles, that same child is malnourished. Not everyone has the same options that look like the first collage of colorful fruits, vegetables and proteins, like fish. The other pictures reflect life and feeding children in other countries and what that looks like. In one area, children have come with bowls or buckets to collect a daily meal, provided by the ministry through a community Mother willing to use the resources given, to provide one meal for children in their communities. For many, one good meal is the ONLY meal they will receive! In children’s outreaches, we have seen food relief look like: >> seaweed with ginger in the Philippines, which is rich in vitamins, resourced from what they have, the ocean. >>rice and beans, with creole seasoning spices in Haiti, along with one piece of meat, usually chicken or goat >>rice/milk mixture, called “horchata” in many countries of the world >>rice and beans or tofu in Africa It’s so insightful to see what each culture has in larger quantities to be able to cook for their feeding centers.
